Does Team Breckenridge Sports Club have a Snowboard Team?

Team Breckenridge has under 200 athletes per season.  We believe in maintaining small, individualized ski programs. Our membership includes all Alpine disciplines, Freeride and Big Mountain.

Why are there two ski clubs in Summit County?

Summit County is fortunate to have two options for junior athletes to consider for alpine, mogul and freeride ski programs.  Different philosophies, training techniques, cost, program sizes, coaching styles, allocation of resources and experiences are all considerations in selecting the program that best fits your needs and desires.

Does Team Breckenridge Sports Club provide transportation from Denver to the mountain?

Team Breckenridge does not provide transportation from Denver.

Do program fees include a season pass?

TBK program fees do not include season passes. Discounted season passes are available to TBK membership through Breckenridge Ski Resort beginning in October.  We recommend purchasing your season pass directly from Vail Resorts during Early Bird pricing.  Our discount is the same as early bird.

All athletes are required to have a minimum of an Epic Local Pass.

How do I get my discount season pass voucher?

Once all membership requirements have been met, TBK will distribute your season pass voucher (upon request) .  Usually this is available in mid October.  We recommend purchasing your season pass directly from Vail Resorts during Early Bird Pricing.  Our discount is equivalent to early bird pricing and we often do not receive them until the ski season has begun.

Is lunch included?

No, Team Breckenridge does not provide lunch to the athletes.  We recommend packing a bagged lunch and snacks along with a water bottle that won't freeze.

Volunteer

Do I have to Volunteer?

Volunteering is not mandatory but it is greatly appreciated.  As a non-profit organization, we rely heavily on our membership to volunteer with events and fundraising.

Team Breckenridge collects a work deposit from all families upon registration.  When you have satisfied your volunteer hours, you will receive a refund of your work deposit.  If you do not volunteer, you will forfeit the work deposit.  All work logs are due by June 1 in order to receive your credit.

What is the purpose of the Work Deposit Fee?

The Work Deposit Program provides families with the choice of volunteering time or money to support our program.  Support of our community and membership lead to our success.  We host competitions and fundraising events which require volunteers.  These events support high level programs and lower program costs.  Without volunteer support, we must use work deposit funds to pay for event staffing.

Where can I find a Volunteer Log?

The volunteer work log can be found Here  Once you have completed your volunteer hours, please turn your log in to admin@teambrecksportsclub.com.  All volunteer logs are due by June 1 in order to receive a credit.

What Volunteer Opportunities are available?

Team Breckenridge offers a variety of volunteer opportunities which can be applied to a Work Deposit which support the club and local community.  Assistance is needed with administrative tasks, on-hill and competition support, fundraising, and grant writing.  We also seek support for marketing and public relation programs and membership awareness.

You can find current volunteer opportunities here.

Equipment

Where do I purchase a Team Jacket? Collapse

Athletes are required to wear a team jacket during training and competitions.

Does my athlete have to wear a helmet?

YES!  We require that every athlete wear a helmet when training with Team Breckenridge.  If your child is competing in Alpine events, he or she will need a hard eared helmet per USSS rules.

What equipment is necessary for training?

Start with the basics...skis, boots, helmet & goggles!

Stay dry and warm with gloves, neck gator, long underwear, ski socks and jacket.  You should always have extra of everything as well as an extra set of clothes in case your athlete gets cold or wet.

Hand warmers are also recommended on cold days.  You can always throw them in the backpack in case your athlete is cold.  Hand warmers can really turn the day around!

Each program will require different equipment beyond the above and will be communicated from the athletes coach.

Training

Parents at training

Parents are welcome at training with certain restrictions.  Safety is the NUMBER ONE concern for our athletes and parents. With this said, parents are asked not to enter the training/competition arena. Viewing an athlete’s training run is usually very easy from outside the arena.  All it takes is one miscalculation or one unsuspecting parent or athlete to cause an injury.  Our coaches take this issue very seriously and ask that all parents help us keep our training environment safe.  Please do not put the coaches in the position of asking you to leave the arena.  Exceptions may be made if specifically asked for assistance by the coaching staff.

If a parent is assisting coaches in a training or competition environment, it must be understood that you are assisting the entire team, not a specific athlete or other agenda. All coaches and volunteers working with our athletes are required to complete and pass USSS/ IFSA background checks, safesport training, CPR/ First Aid training, concussion training and avalanche safety training prior to start date.  Please keep safety in mind at all times and keep distractions of ALL athletes to a minimum. All coaches and staff undergo extensive background checks and are required to complete SafeSport training and certification, ensuring they are fully prepared to work with athletes in a safe, ethical, and professional manner. Parents and guardians, while valued members of our community, do not complete these mandated safety protocols and therefore are not authorized to be present during training session

THERE IS NEVER ANY FREESKIING IN A TRAINING AREA.  IF YOU ARE IN A RACING OR TRAINING ARENA, YOU MUST BE SIDE SLIPPING.

What happens if my athlete gets injured?

If your athlete is injured during training, a coach or TBK staff member will accompany your athlete to the medical facility.  We will communicate with you regarding the injury ASAP following the injury.
